Howl-a-ween, 2020 edition

Because Howl-a-ween falls on a Saturday this year, we had a Halloween remote call at work. People were able to share their costumes on camera (and submit photos to the costume contest), as well as talk about what they had planned for the evening. We also did a scavenger hunt which had me running back and forth to the computer which meant taking my headphones on and off. I looked like a panicked, sweaty idiot. Sweaty both from running up and down the stairs, but also because I was wearing this cozy, FLEECE onesie.

My fishy makeup was done very on the fly with makeup that was far too old, but I think it turned out cute for the time it took. Note: This is the first and last onesie costume I will ever buy. I'm not really a fan of them, but I fell into the trap of needing something quick to wear! But, I do admit, this one is super cute. Next year, I'll have to take a picture of the whole costume including the back as it has a tail too! :)

Outside of work, one of my favourite video games, "Monster Hunter World" was also hosting a Halloween-type festival in-game. One of the aspects was the change in food that's delivered to you by the chefs when you are trying to get "buffs" on your character before setting out on a quest. I thought it was a cool layout and I want to try to make all these foods in real life! So, that will be a project at some point.

Looks strangely delicious, am I right?

Drive-by Birthday

It looks like a lot of my blog posts lately have been connected to birthdays.... here’s another one!

This month is Hazel, my niece’s, 3rd birthday. She is the cutest child to exist on this earth and I’ve already prepared myself that my own eventual child will not be able to match that cuteness. My sister came up with a cool birthday party idea that allowed Hazel’s friends to “drop by” and get cupcakes without ever being within close proximity. The pandemic has helped us all become a bit more creative, I think. To give more context, here is the digital invitation that she sent out (it’s cropped to hide her address).

How cute, huh? The party goers essentially drove by, chatted at a distance, gave Birthday wishes, gave gifts and got cupcakes!! :)

I wasn’t able to come for that event but was able to drop by later. I knew that Hazel would probably get a lot of physical gifts so instead I wanted to make her something that will last a very long time and although she probably doesn’t appreciate it now, hopefully she will I’m the future. She’s always asking me to draw lions, so I did this one just for her.

Happy Birthday, Hazel!
